The Communication Systems Division of CTTC invites applications for a researcher at postdoctoral level in its Array & Multi-Sensor Processing Department. The contract will be funded by the Catalan Government (ACCIO – Generalitat de Catalunya) through the competitive Tecniospring INDUSTRY call, see The activity of this contract will be related to the work of the AMSP department on Optical Wireless Communications, see



Applicants must have a PhD in telecommunications, electronic engineering, or related areas, and 2-year Postdoc research experience or the equivalent full-time research experience as specified in Applicants must comply with all the conditions detailed in previous following link, including that they must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the closing date for the Tecniospring submission deadline. Fluent English writing and speaking is required. Catalan and Spanish language knowledge will be appreciated.

Tecniospring INDUSTRY also welcomes experienced researchers who come after a career break. It is considered that researchers have had a career break when they were not active in research for a continuous period of at least twelve months within the eighteen months immediately prior to the deadline for submission of proposals.

Required skills and experience:

  • Background on Visible Light Communications (VLC).
  • Background on Vehicle-to-Vehicle communications.
  • Background on artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning for VLC.
  • Background on channel modelling for VLC.
  • Knowledge on relevant VLC use cases, such as home automation, indoor communications in hospitals, V2V.
  • Programming language: Python, Matlab, C++.
  • Previous research experience: publication track and previous R&D projects.
  • Mentoring and supervision of students.
  • Development of technology transfer projects. Work experience in industry is highly valued.
  • English proficiency.



The duration of the contract will be 2 years, starting between October 2021 and April 2022. The selected candidate will prepare jointly with CTTC their candidature to be submitted to the competitive Tecniospring INDUSTRY call (deadline: 15th June 2021).

The position corresponds to the R3 professional category at CTTC. The rank and gross salary, according to the text of the call is 58.500€/year (including company costs, which roughly corresponds to 44.000€/year of gross salary before taxes and deductions).
