The Geomatics Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Researcher position in its Geodesy and Navigation Department (GEON). The GEON Department does research on static and kinematic positioning. The GEON department is active in the generation of acquired geo-data ready for interpretation both in their geometric and physical aspects. Activities of this Department include precise positioning and navigation with INS/GPS, INS/Galileo, LiDAR and imaging sensors; sensor orientation and calibration; kinematic INS/GPS gravimetry; etc. For more information about the Department, please refer to

The candidate is expected to have a strong background in the following specialization areas of interest: multi-sensor navigation; data acquisition and processing units; trajectory estimation and calibration, sensor orientation and calibration for terrestrial, airborne and spaceborne sensors; hybrid navigation with cameras, and laser scanner data; information extraction from optical, multi-spectral data, laser scanner and lidar data; and kinematic mapping.

The candidate is expected to carry out innovative applied research. The applicant is expected to be motivated and team player. The candidate is expected to work independently while, at the same time, cooperating with the GEON Department. The selected candidate will become a member of the GEON Department; carry out research activities associated to this department; support the department members in the preparation of project proposals and reports; participate in the dissemination activities.


Applicants for this position must hold a degree in geomatics, telecommunications or related disciplines (physics, geophysics, mathematics, computer science, etc.). Candidates are expected to have research and development experience. The following skills are required:

- In-depth knowledge and experience in the integration of sensors;

- Good knowledge of INS and GNSS sensors;

- Knowledge and experience in geo-location systems;

- Knowledge in localization algorithms and Kalman filtering processing;

- Experience in Image processing;

- Good knowledge of C/C++ and Linux;

- ROS (Robotic Operative System) programming skills;

- Android programming skills;

- Outstanding oral and writing English skills.

A track record and capacity of carrying out experimental work and interact with researchers is appreciated. A demonstrated capability in attracting funds, including experience in writing research proposals, participating in national and international R&D projects and managing research projects is an asset. Full professional proficiency in English is required, while Spanish and Catalan proficiency is appreciated.
