Researcher position in Communication Network Division – Optical Networks and Systems Department
The Communication Networks Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a Research and Innovation position in its Optical Networks and Systems Department. The successful applicant should have a PhD degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science.
We offer a position to work on the design, planning and development of software for optical networking testbeds and proof-of-concepts, exploring new technologies and their applicability in the scope of the H2020 5GPPP TeraFlow research project.
The selected candidate will become a member of an internationally recognized research Department with an important focus on cutting-edge experimental activities. The selected candidate will lead and support the team members in the preparation of the reports of the project, as well as participate in dissemination activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful applicant must have a PhD degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.Experience in R&D or industrial projects carried out in the context of research institutions or industry will be appreciated.
We are looking for candidates with a strong motivation and desire to learn and explore new technologies. Interested candidates should have good analysis, problem solving, proactiveness, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Candidates should also demonstrate strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Excellent publication record in top scientific peer-reviewed journals.
- Knowledge of current technology trends in SDN/NFV network control and management, optical/packet networking and cloud concepts and technologies.
- Effective English oral and writing skills.
- Python programming, with experience in small and medium-sized projects
- Knowledge of Linux programming and system administration
- Experience in hands-on optical and packet SDN network platforms (e.g., ONOS, OpenDayLight, …)
- Experience in hands-on NFV platforms (e.g., OSM, ONAP, …)
- Development of cloud-native applications (e.g., based on micro-services)
- Knowledge of blockchain technologies
- Hands-on testbed management and proof-of-concept / demo skills.
The contract duration for the position will be 24 months, renewable on a yearly basis subject to performance and budgetary constraints. It is a postdoctoral contract, referred to as contract of access to the Spanish system of science, technology, and innovation in the Spanish Science Act (Ley 14/2011, de 1 de junio, de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación) and the researcher will be initially working in the H2020 5GPPP Teraflow project.
The rank and gross salary, in the range 33,000-35,000€/year, will be determined according to qualifications and work experience. The position corresponds to the R2 professional category at CTTC.
