The Communication Networks Division of the CTTC is offering two Research and Innovation positions in its Mobile Networks Department. For more information about the Department, please refer to

The eligible candidates must have defended their Master thesis in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields, with a good academic record and, most importantly, strong motivation for research.

The selected candidates will become members of an internationally recognized research Department with an important focus on cutting-edge experimental activities.

Who are we?                                                                                                                                                             

The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) is a self-standing, public sector non-profit research institution devoted to fundamental and applied Research activities, mainly focused on technologies related to the physical, data-link and network layers of communication systems, and to the Geomatics.

In November 2015, the CTTC obtained the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ Award from the European Commission. The CTTC is in the Mediterranean Park of Technology in Castelldefels, a scientific parc that hosts the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, research institutions, and innovative companies and startups. The PMT-UPC is located 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and to Castelldefels city center, also close to kindergartens, public and top international schools. It can be reached by car, train (RENFE) and several bus lines.

We have 2 buildings in the campus, with state-of-the-art facilities, comfortable working spaces, meeting and multi-purpose rooms and social spaces.

Qualifications and Experience                                                                                                                                

The successful applicant must have a MSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field.

We are looking for candidates with a strong motivation and desire to learn and explore new technologies revolving around cybersecurity.

Interested candidates should have good analysis, problem solving, proactiveness, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Transversal skills, such as entrepreneurial attitude and good communication, among others, will also be of valued.

The profile is generic in the sense that the candidate will have the opportunity to learn the concepts and technologies after joining CTTC and what is requested to candidates is a proactive attitude and passion for exploring new ideas and solving practical security-related problems. In this sense, it is mandatory:

  • To have an MSc degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field
  • To have a good academic record
  • To demonstrate strong oral and written English communication skills.

Additionally, the skills below are not mandatory but are highly valued. Therefore, though they are less relevant than the above criteria, they will also be considered when preparing the rank of candidates:

  • Main topic: Cybersecurity (e.g., IDS, privacy, authentication, identification)
  • Telecommunication systems
  • Network/Cloud virtualization
  • Network optimization
  • Artificial intelligence/Machine learning
  • Data management
  • Strong programming skills
  • Experience in R&D projects carried out in the context of research institutions or industry
  • Research publications


What we offer:                                                                                                                                                     

The position is temporary, initially for one year, renewed yearly depending on the attitude and performance of the candidate. The rank and salary will be determined according to qualifications and work experience. Depending on his/her experience, the candidate will be ranked as R1 (research trainee) or R2 (researcher) according to the CTTC professional categories available at: Salary is offered according to the institutional salary scales.

  • Full-time contract: 7,5 h/day. Flexibility
