We offer a position to pursue a PhD in topic of network slicing security. The PhD candidate will carry out fundamental and applied research in an international, top-leading research team, exploring new technologies and their applicability in optical networks with special emphasis in the area 5G and beyond, working in the scope of national and international research projects while developing testbeds and proof-of-concept prototypes.



 We are looking for a candidate with a knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Network slicing
  • NFV network services
  • Cloud and edge computing
  • security, privacy and trust
  • Blockchain
  • Development of networked systems in Python and C/C++ (mainly in GNU/Linux environments), as well as in system administration and networking.
  • Knowledge of OSM, SONATA, OpenStack, and in general testbed management will be positively evaluated

The candidate must have a MSc degree in electrical, electronics, telecommunications, photonics engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the MSc degree.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic junior scientists, aiming at significantly improving their career perspectives. Excellent research skills and analytical abilities are required, fluency in English (spoken and written), proactive communication skills and problem solving as part of a team, solid programming skills, strong academic record, great work ethic and initiatives are essential characteristics.



The position is full time, and the PhD candidate will be offered with an employment of 3 years. Candidates are required to be enrolled in a PhD program.

Profiles with different levels of work experience are sought. The rank and gross salary, in the range 27,000-33,000€/year, will be determined according to qualifications and work experience.
