The Communication Networks Division of the CTTC is searching for interested candidates in a research position in its Mobile Networks Department. Interest is in system-level researchers highly skilled in software development for wireless and wired networked systems. System administration skills are also a must. We are looking for a researcher interested in and capable of designing and developing network simulation and experimental platforms for 5G networks. Therefore, the ideal researcher should demonstrate experimental experience in as many as possible areas out of the following list: SDN, NFV, cloud, WiFi and WiGig networks, experience in system level simulators, and experimental prototyping.
Really solid software development skills are a must, including 1) programming languages such as C++, C, Python, Java, Bash scripting; 2) knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases; 3) development tools (e.g., Eclipse, SVN, Gerrit, Jenkins); and 4) software testing design, implementation, and automation.
Design and deployment of experimental testbeds featuring: 1) heterogeneous data plane technologies (wired and wireless); 2) control plane software (incl. SDN and NFV control building blocks); 3) deployment management software (e.g., Chef, Puppet); and 4) remote and distributed testing infrastructure (incl. experiment management).
Other highly valued specific knowledge:
- Experience on virtualization with Openstack-related software (Heat, Neutron).
- Experience on SDN-related software (e.g., OpenvSwitch, DPDK, Ryu, ODL).
- Experience on wireless networking development on SDN-based and mesh networking Wi-Fi and WiGig scenarios.
