The Telecommunications Technological Center of Catalonia (CTTC) invites applications for one pre-doctoral position aimed to carry out fundamental research in the context of the European project e-CROPS (Energy harvesting Communication netwoRks: OPtimization and demonstration;

The e-CROPS project aims to formulate a mathematical theory of communication for energy harvesting networks, considering the communication network jointly with the energy network consisting of the harvesters and the storage units. The goal is to design the protocols enabling the adaption of the physical and network layer design to the temporal changes in the available energy as well as to the distribution of the energy within the network.


Applicants must hold an MsC degree in telecommunications, be strongly motivated for research, and have enrolled/ be willing to enroll in a PhD program. Background knowledge on information theory is a must. Work experience in R&D companies is highly valued.

Other skills: strong motivation and desire to learn and explore new technologies; good analytical, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills; Matlab programming, high level of English (TOEFL or similar).


This is a full-time position associated to the e-CROPS project (PCIN-2013-027) which is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO). The initial duration of this pre-doctoral contract is one year and can be renewed on a yearly basis up to a total duration of three years (i.e. two renewals).

The initial salary is 14.400 euro (gross). PhD supervision fees will be reimbursed to the selected candidate.
