CTTC coordinates the 5GMediaHUB a new project on 5G experimentation for third party services

The CENTRE TECNOLOGIC DE TELECOMUNICACIONS DE CATALUNYA (CTTC) coordinates a new Innovation Action EU-funded project 5GMediaHUB: 5G experimentation environment for 3rd party media services.

The vision of 5GMediaHUB is to enable EU to achieve its goal of becoming a world leader in 5G, by accelerating the testing and validation of innovative 5G-empowered media applications and NetApps from 3rd party experimenters and 3rd party NetApps developers, through an integrated, open and fully featured Experimentation Facility. This will significantly reduce the time to market barrier, thus providing such actors that are primarily from SMEs, with a competitive advantage against their rivals outside EU.

The multidisciplinary consortium, coordinated by the Head of the SMARTECH Department Dr. Christos Verikoukis, consists of 17 partners from 9 countries.

On the 26th and 27th of January 2021 held a successful online kick-off meeting with discussions on the vision and framework of the project.

CTTC capitalizes in 5GMediaHUB the experience from previous 5G projects on network slicing and orchestration.  The SMARTECH´s end-to-end 5G platform that will be extended during the project in order to test the 3rd party media services

MARSAL project further enhances CTTC´s projects portfolio in the area and is strengthening its position in the European 5G and 6G era. CTTC has a unique achievement to currently coordinate 6 5GPP project.
