Bio

Ana Collado (Santander) received the degree in Telecommunications Engineering and Ph.D. (cum-laude) from the University of Cantabria, Santander, Spain, in 2002 and 2007 respectively. In 2002, she spent four months at the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, studying the uncertainty in the measurements of noise figure in MMIC low noise amplifiers. Since April 2007, she has been involved in the design of low phase-noise MMIC VCOs at the University of Cantabria.

During her Ph.D. studies she was a recipient of a Scholarship from the MEC. In 2007, she was a finalist in the student paper competition of the International Microwave Symposium.

She is currently working towards:

"Novel, energy efficient, RFID enabled sensors, minimizing the use of batteries and having as little as possible impact on the environment"

Her areas of interest include:

  • -RFID technology
  • -Autonomous RFIDs enabled sensors in textile, flexible and paper/organic materials
  • -RFIDs on clothing for sensing and monitoring
  • -Energy harvesting
  • -Investigation on hybrid energy harvesting modules to maximize the recycled power from the ambient
  • -Green, self-sustainable and energy efficient systems
  • -Integration of active antennas on textile, flexible and paper/organic substrates
  • -Nonlinear circuit design
  • -Stability issues in nonlinear circuits and systems
