Bio
He received the Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications in 2005 from Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Finland. His PhD study was supported by Tampere Graduate School in Information Science and Engineering (TISE), Nokia Foundation, and Finnish Cultural Foundation. In 2001, he got the licentiate (Cand.Sc.) degree from St.-Petersburg University of Telecommunications (SUT), Russia.
He was employed by TUT, at the Institute of Communications Engineering as Researcher and Senior Researcher from 2002 to 2006. He participated in the European projects ICEFIN, COST 290, E-NEXT and had teaching responsibilities for teletraffic theory courses.
From 1995 to 2001 he worked as a member of scientific staff in St. Petersburg R&D Institute of Telecommunications (LONIIS) where he was involved in national and international projects concerning development and deployment of telecommunication networks (Intelligent Networks (IN), ISDN). He took IN training course in Alcatel Sel Training Center, Stuttgart, Germany in 1999.
His research interests are focused on traffic offloading from mobile operator networks, mobile relaying architecture aspects for LTE-A, node dimensioning of GPRS Core Network/EPC nodes, traffic evaluation towards LTE/EPC from users of 3GPP and non-3GPP networks, working out of ways to create and orchestrate wireless-enhanced rich IP multimedia services by means of the IMS platform for heterogeneous access networks, study of different IMS architecture aspects to enable IMS-capable femtocell subsystem, development of Distributed Mobility Management schemes in wireless mesh networks, network topological optimization.
