Bio
Francisco Rubio received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (March 2001), his M.S. degree in Information Science from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (July 2002) and his Ph.D. degree in Signal Theory and Communications from the Technical University of Catalonia (June 2008). He is currently a research associate with the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) in Barcelona (Spain).
He has held a six-month visiting appointment as a predoctoral research fellow with the Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL, USA) starting June 2007. Prior to his Ph.D., he held research and professional appointments at the Radio Access Department of Retevisión Móvil (now France Telecom's Orange) in Madrid (from November 2000 through March 2001), and the Broadband Local Radio Networks research group of T-Nova Deutsche Telekom Innovationsgesellschaft mbH (from February through June 2000), MABEL Biomedical Engineering Labs (from April 2001 to July 2002) and BMW AG in Germany, from August 2002 until joining CTTC in November 2003.
He has actively participated in the European projects CELTIC WISQUAS, IST NEWCOM and IST ACE. Dr. Rubio is co-recipient of an Academic Performance Award from T-Systems. His research interests include parameter estimation, array processing, as well as random matrix theory and the application of the spectral analysis of large dimensional random matrices to statistical signal processing.
