Bio
Francisco Vázquez Gallego (Barcelona, 1973) obtained his B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering (1995) and his M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering (1998) from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). He is currently conducting his PhD in the Electronics Engineering Department of UPC.
During the realization of his M.Sc. degree, he started working for Amper Servicios, S.A. (July 1995 to January 96) as Radio-frequency Engineer for base-stations setup in analog mobile communications systems (TACS). From June 1996 to September 1998, he joined the company Enher, S.A. as hardware/firmware test engineer in the Telecontrol Department.
Between October 1998 and June 2006, he joined the company NTE, S.A. as R&D Electronics Engineer and Project Manager. NTE is an engineering company dedicated to the development and manufacturing of prototypes and flight equipment for the European Space Agency (ESA), within the micro-gravity field and life-support systems. Francisco worked for the NTE Space division in the following projects: MARES (Muscle Atrophy Research & Exercise System, for NASA/ESA), EPU (Experiment Preparation Unit, for ESA), High Resolution Digital Still-Camera for Aerial Photography (for Institut Cartogràfic de Catatalunya -ICC), HAEMOSCAN and MULTIGEN (for ESA).
From June 2006 to November 2007, he worked as R&D Engineer in Electronics and Optical systems for NUB3D, S.L., company dedicated to the design and manufacturing of 3D-scanners. In Nub3D, he collaborated in the SIDIO project (contactless 3D-scanner based on structured light for the acquisition of object digitized surfaces).
Between December 2007 and November 2009, he held the position of R&D Director at Tinytronic, S.L, company dedicated to the design and manufacturing of radio-tracking and location (GPS) products. He was leading a R&D team working in RF/digital electronics, embedded software, and antennas. Francisco was responsible for the concept design of the communication & electronics system, and detailed design of RF and digital electronics, and also responsible for the project management.
Since January 2010, he is a Senior Research Engineer at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) working in the Digital Baseband Design group of the Engineering Unit.
