Bio
Nikos Bartzoudis (Alexandroupoli, Greece 1976) obtained his B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering at the Technical Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (Greece, 2000). He then pursued postgraduate studies and received his M.Sc. degree (in Digital Communication Systems) and Ph.D. degree (in dependable embedded systems) from Loughborough University (UK) in 2001 and 2006 respectively. The core research areas he has worked include automated logical analysis of protocol correctness, assertion-based monitoring of FPGA-based applications and concurrency issues in dependable real-time systems.
Nikos has worked 2 years as a Research Assistant (Loughborough University, UK, 2001-2003) implementing reconfigurable hardware solutions for "Active Networks". He has also worked more than two years as a Senior Research Officer (University of Essex, UK, 2005-2008) implementing a flexible low-cost sensor-processing node with built-in self-testing utilities.
He has joined the Engineering Unit of CTTC in January 2008, working as a senior engineer in baseband signal-processing implementations for multi-carrier systems. Nikos is in charge of the GEDOMIS testbed (since April 2008) and working at the same time in the MIMOWA project (since January 2008). He was promoted (October 2008) and acquired the position of Research Associate that he is currently holding. His main duties include the design and testing of FPGA-based IP blocks that implement complex baseband digital signal-processing algorithms, as part of future wireless network experimental testbeds. He is also currently involved in supervising and mentoring activities for postgraduate students (MSc-PhD level). Other indicative details of Nikos Bartzoudis background are given below.
