Antonio Román Villarroel is an Electronics Engineer, specialized in computing, graduated from the Universidad Nacional Experimental Politécnica “Antonio José de Sucre”, Venezuela (1996). He has specialized studies in Digital Telecommunications by France Telecom/Sofrecom and the Institut national des télécommunications (now Télécom SudParis), France (2001). He received his PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, Spain (2015).
Throughout his professional life, he has worked for industry and university teaching. It has a very broad vision in three specific areas: telecommunications in the industrial area, embedded systems, and architecture and software development. He has extensive experience in digital electronics, microprocessors and microcontrollers, operating systems, communications protocols, and is full stack in embedded software development. His current focus on research and development is directed towards IoT/M2M/Automation projects, cyber- physical systems and telecommunications security in embedded systems.
In mid-2019, he joined to the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), in the Machine to Machine Communications (M2M) department in the Communications Technologies Division (CTD), as Research Assistant. Its main activities focus on WSN, embedded software development, and electronics development.
