Carlos Herranz Claveras received his M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering and his Ph.D.degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia, Spain, in 2010 and 2019, respectively.
From 2011 to 2019 he was with iTEAM Research Institute in Valencia, Spain. During this period, he conducted research on LTE and NR technologies for different projects. He collaborated with former SistelBanda in the development of the LTE L2 protocol layer and Self-Organizing Networks (SON) solutions for the company’s Small Cell portfolio. Moreover, he assisted BMW AB in the proof-of-concept of nomadic LTE-based access points to provide in-vehicle connectivity. Later he collaborated in 5GPPP METIS-II project in the vehicular communication case and in the creation of a new paradigm of data visualization for 5G networks. In December 2015 he started his Ph.D. studies on beam tracking strategies for mmWave NR deployments under realistic scenario conditions. He was a visiting researcher at NYU Wireless in Summer 2017 and at Group of Wireless Communications and Technologies (WiComTec) at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Since October 2019 he is with the Mobile Networks Department of the Communication Networks Division (CND) at CTTC in Castelldefels, Barcelona, Spain.
His main research interests are with 4G and 5G cellular network simulators, mobility management in mmWave networks and algorithms for Self-Organizing Networks (SON).
