ACE2 is the second phase of the ACE Network of Excellence created with the purpose of structuring antenna research within Europe. ACE deals with the antenna function of radio systems. ACE is focused on the electromagnetic interface from conductors to free space radiated waves, the beam-forming functions, whether they are analogue or digital, and adaptive “smart” systems to optimize communication systems performance.
CTTC has had an active role in the Network leading a workpackage of the activity on Smart Antennas Systems and participating in the European School of Antennas with the organization and coordination of the course on “Cooperative Communications and Distributed Antenna Arrays” (continues under the Marie Curie Action ESoA), in workpackage A2.5-1 on advanced multiple antenna transmit and receive strategies, which has lead and WP2.5-2 on MIMO networks optimisation and deployment issues.
ACE2 successfully concluded in December 2007 although part of its activity continues, such as the European School of Antennas.
