In this project CTTC was subcontracted by the UPC after winning a public tender. The original scope of the project is to jointly prototype in RTL code -targeting a given FPGA device- a digital predistrortion (DPD) and envelope tracking (ET) solution for power amplifiers (PA) used in next generation 5G handsets. The goal is to increase the PA efficiency and reduce the battery consumption. The project has been extended to contemplate top-up development and redefinition of tasks. The UPC group aims at using this development as a proof-of-concept (PoC) for an ongoing project they maintain with a renown mobile device manufacturer, and in concrete its IC design subsidiary.
