The project R@ilnet consists of the definition and development of the technology and equipment that is necessary for the bidirectional internet access in trains, with  minimum terrestrial infrastructure. The terrestrial digital television (TDT) technology based on the standard DVB-T turns out to be the best-suited option to overcome the drawbacks of the techniques based on WiFi standards and to optimize the ROI with respect to satellite techniques, among other considered options in the development of the project.
