NBIoTSAT: NB-IoT over Satellite study

  • Abstract: In NBIoTSAT is studied the viability of using the NB-IoT communication system for connecting IoT devices directly to a LEO and GEO satellites. Design of the link budget that closes the forward and return links, as well as Doppler and Timing analysis have been conducted. Block schemes of the NB-IoT receiver architecture over LEO and GEO satellite were proposed. Finally, economical and business studies of the NB-IoT solution were provided as well as prospective studies of this technology in the next decade.
  • Tasks: The design of the link budget, Doppler and Time Analysis, as well as the proposed NB-IoT receiver architectures over LEO and GEO satellites were tasks conducted by the AMSP department (CSD division) whereas the economical study task was jointly developed between the departments of AMSP and PHYCOM (CTD division).
