The main focus of the Provisioning and monitoring of optical services project is to support a range of advanced high capacity services, from Bandwidth on Demand to Optical Virtual Private Networks, with assured end-to-end quality and reliability, and over an adaptable optical network infrastructure that GMPLS protocols make possible. PROMISE adopts a holistic approach that will encompass investigation on, or implementation of, network elements, control software, management software and especially tailored services and applications that take advantage of the overall capabilities of the network.
